2 avocados, halved with pit removed

2 tablespoons diced onion

1 small jalapeno, seeded and minced

1 teaspoon ground cumin

Juice of one lime

1 teaspoon kosher salt

1 tablespoon minced cilantro (optional)

For two servings:

1/2 avocado

2 teaspoons diced onion

1 teaspoon minced jalapeno

1 teaspoon lime juice

1/8 teaspoon kosher salt

1/8 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon minced cilantro (optional)


Scoop the flesh from the avocado halves into a medium bowl. Mash with a large fork or a potato masher until mostly smooth with some chunks remaining. Add remaining ingredients and stir. Adjust seasoning.

Note: If you prefer a less assertive onion taste, soak the diced onion in cold water for 15 minutes or so, then drain thoroughly before adding to the avocado.
